A 16-week plan based on the Runner's Edge methodology for experienced competitive runners seeking peak performance in the half marathon who are prepared to train 7 days per week with high volume. This is the most demanding program in the Runner's Edge series for the half marathon. You train every day, with no complete rest — recovery comes from light and active recovery runs. Long runs reach 2:40 with 20-minute blocks at long-run pace, threshold reaches 40 minutes in a continuous block (plus up to 6 repeats of 1 mile (1.6 km)), and long runs in the build phase integrate intervals of up to 8x 1:00 followed by almost 2 hours of long running. The peak phase is especially robust: double pyramids with 9 repetitions, a 10K race in week 13, progressive tune-ups that reach 2x 4 miles (6.4 km) at race pace, and a 10-mile (16 km) marathon-pace workout in the last peak week.
